Kiewit is a name recognized across North America for delivering complex infrastructure, energy and construction projects. Kiewit’s presence in Canada is also longstanding. During our visit, we learned about some of the significant projects Kiewit has been involved in right here in our region. Notably, they played a key role in the construction of the Trans Mountain Pipeline Expansion Project, an essential initiative that supports energy infrastructure and economic growth across Canada. Their work on this project exemplifies their ability to handle complex challenges while adhering to high standards of safety and environmental stewardship.Kiewit also places a strong emphasis on building meaningful relationships with First Nations communities throughout their projects. Their commitment to collaboration and consultation ensures that Indigenous voices are heard and respected, fostering partnerships that benefit all parties involved. This approach not only enhances project outcomes but also promotes mutual understanding and respect.
For the Tri-Cities, this connection is more than technical. It is economic and community based. Businesses like Kiewit support local employment, create opportunities for skilled trades and professionals, and contribute to the broader supply chain that keeps major infrastructure projects moving. Their work also demonstrates the importance of industrial lands and marine access in supporting regional prosperity. As our communities grow, the ability to deliver complex infrastructure safely and efficiently will remain essential. The team at Kiewit not only focuses on delivering high-quality projects but also emphasizes safety and innovation in their operations.
The Chamber’s role is to connect, advocate, and champion the businesses that help our region thrive. Site visits like this are an important part of that work. They give our Board and staff a deeper understanding of the industries operating in our own backyard and the opportunities and challenges they face. They also allow us to better tell the story of the Tri-Cities economy: diverse, skilled, innovative, and connected to regional and national infrastructure priorities.
We are grateful to Kiewit for opening its doors and giving us a closer look at the people and capabilities behind its marine operations. The visit reinforced the value of strong partnerships between business, community organizations, and regional leaders. It also reminded us that much of the infrastructure we rely on every day begins with careful planning, skilled hands, and companies willing to take on some of the most complex work in the industry.
