Business Members Engage Premier David Eby

Premier David Eby is speaking on the future of British Columbia’s economy at an event hosted by the Burnaby Board of Trade.

Coquitlam, BC (September 16, 2025) — Last week, thanks to our strong partnerships and advocacy role, business members had the unique opportunity to hear directly from Premier David Eby about the future of British Columbia’s economy. The event, hosted by our colleagues at the Burnaby Board of Trade, created a valuable forum for businesses in our region to ask the Premier pressing questions and share their perspectives on the challenges and opportunities ahead.

We extend our sincere thanks to Premier Eby for engaging with our members, listening to their
concerns, and sharing the government’s priorities for the months to come.

Chamber Advocacy in Action

The conversation highlighted many of the issues the Tri-Cities Chamber continues to champion on behalf of our business community. Premier Eby addressed the need for reforms to the foreign worker program, ensuring it both safeguards youth employment and protects immigrant workers from exploitation—such as underpayment, unfair hours, or unsafe conditions.

He also emphasized the unique strengths of British Columbia’s economy: “We have everything we need to be successful here in British Columbia.” As the government prepares to advocate in
Ottawa, the Premier outlined a focus on tariff-proof infrastructure projects, expanding access to global markets through our ports, and positioning B.C. as a leader in renewable fuels and low-
cost energy sources.

Eby reaffirmed the government’s commitment to fiscal responsibility, pledging to drive efficiencies, reduce debt, and support sustainable growth. These priorities directly align with the Chamber’s ongoing advocacy for a competitive, stable, and fair economic environment for our members.
