Port Coquitlam, BC (June 11, 2025) Since its humble beginnings in Bill Dick’s basement in the late 1980s, Phoenix Truck & Crane has grown into a cornerstone of British Columbia’s logistics and crane services. With a proud history dating back to 1991, the company has become more than just a leader in transportation—it’s a vibrant part of the Lower Mainland community. This year, Phoenix marks a special milestone, 25 years of partnership with the Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce, a testament to its deep-rooted commitment to community, collaboration, and growth.
Earlier this month, the Tri-Cities Chamber ambassador team had the pleasure of touring Phoenix Truck & Crane and meeting Bill Dick, the passionate founder whose pride in his company is contagious.
“It’s always been about the people,” Bill shared, smiling warmly. “When you take care of your team, they take care of everything else. Our journey is about more than just moving freight, it’s about moving the community forward. We are proud of what we’ve achieved, and excited for what’s ahead.”
That philosophy is reflected in the company’s innovative and caring practices, from a four-day workweek for long-serving staff to a well-stocked kitchen filled with nutritious snacks and the occasional wagon wheel. These initiatives foster a workplace where employees feel valued, happy, and motivated to collaborate.
Phoenix’s commitment to its team extends beyond perks. Their active participation in chamber events and committees demonstrates a genuine desire to strengthen local business networks.
“Being part of the community isn’t just good for business—it’s good for everyone,” explained Bill. “We believe in lifting each other up,” said Bill. “That’s how we build a stronger community together.”
Beyond its internal culture, Phoenix Truck & Crane is deeply involved in community service. Their staff volunteers at charitable events, sits on boards, and offers mentorship to emerging businesses. Their support goes far beyond financial contributions, it’s about giving time, sharing expertise, and fostering a spirit of generosity.
The company’s culture of support, collaboration, and innovation is rooted in the leadership’s active involvement in decision-making and community affairs. Employees, many of whom are family, feel connected to the company’s mission and values—creating a workplace that is both welcoming and inspiring. Their dedication to safety is equally impressive; Phoenix has pioneered industry-leading programs that set a high standard for safety and training. These best practices are shared widely, helping to elevate safety standards across the industry and ensuring a safer future for all.
“As Phoenix Truck & Crane celebrates this remarkable 25-year partnership with the Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce, it’s inspiring to see how their success is truly rooted in a deep commitment to community, caring for their employees, and leading by example in the industry,” shares Jennifer McKinnon, CEO, Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce.
Looking to the future, Phoenix remains committed to innovation, collaboration, and serving their employees and community with the same passion that has driven them from the start.
“The Chamber looks forward to continuing this inspiring partnership and celebrating many more milestones together” says Jennifer Mckinnon, “Phoenix Truck & Crane isn’t just a company—they’re a community builder, a safety pioneer, and a shining example of what it means to lead with heart.”
