Tri-Cities Chamber names Shelley Linn as 2024 Member of the Year

(TRI-CITIES) January 31, 2024 — The Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce is set to celebrate Shelley Linn as 2024 Chamber Member of the Year at its Business Excellence Awards gala on April 27.

Linn, who founded Linn Estate Management Group after retiring from a 35-year career in banking, has been actively engaged with the Chamber for more than a decade, serving as a volunteer on the Ambassador Team and Women in Business Committee.

"Shelley Linn is an exceptional member of our Chamber and Ambassador for our organization," said Leslie Courchesne, CEO, Tri-Cities Chamber. "She is so dedicated and passionate about our Chamber, and gives back to the Tri-Cities community volunteering with other non-profit organizations as well. She is a successful local business owner who lives the values of our Chamber through and through. We are absolutely thrilled to honour her as the 2024 Tri-Cities Chamber Member of the Year."

LINN'S EARLY DAYS WITH THE CHAMBER

"In 2013, I was in a new role with Westminster Savings Credit Union in their small business development area," Linn recalls. "I was strongly encouraged by management to become an active member of the Chamber following in the footsteps of former WSCU leaders. I was pretty much 'voluntold' that I was to be a Chamber Ambassador, which served me well. I got to experience the positive energy of working with like minded members in my community.

"I started my own company, Linn Estate Management Group, in 2021," Linn said. "This new venture provides estate administration to executors and their family members. Maintaining my membership was an obvious decision as the Chamber has always been so supportive of entrepreneurs and provides a great platform for networking and organizing valuable events.

"It's been over 10 years now that I've had the privilege to represent the Tri-Cities Chamber," said Linn. "The Chamber is like an extended family, creating new friendships and a support system to both new and existing businesses. It's been invaluable having the ability to utilize local services to assist with my responsibilities at LEM Group."

JOINING THE WOMEN IN BUSINESS COMMITTEE

"I became involved with the Women In Business Committee since it's inception and take much pride in the need to provide a platform to encourage and develop Women Entrepreneurs. It allows for a comfortable environment to learn and discuss challenges that may be present in their everyday lives with their aspirations of their careers and personal life.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

"I am also a member of Soroptimist International of the Tri-Cities. We help to empower women and girls through various support systems such as education, financial grants and setting them up for their new journey as they come through transition homes, recovery centres and new immigrants.

CHAMBER HIGHLIGHTS

"My favourite Chamber moments are the Mix and Mingles, Holiday Luncheon, International Women's Day events, and best of all the Business Excellence Awards. It's always fascinating to learn and discover what incredible services are offered in our community, from the non-profit organizations to local shops and restaurants, and more.

"It is an honour to be acknowledged as Member of the Year, a recognition that I was most surprised by but extremely flattered," Linn said. "Promoting and advocating for the Tri-Cities Chamber has been nothing but second nature to me, as I truly believe in all the good they do. The staff and membership are what makes this Chamber outstanding in comparison to most. It's more than 1,300 member organizations strong and shall continue to grow with its outstanding reputation!"
