Tri-City Chamber of Commerce supportive of Evergreen Line funding announcement

Coquitlam, BC, July 7, 2011 - The Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce is pleased with the announcement from the Provincial Government and Mayors Council on Regional Transportation pledging their support of the Moving Forward funding plan.“I think everyone in the local business community is relieved and appreciative of the collaboration between the Mayors’ Council and the provincial government on a formula that can fulfill the region’s funding commitment to the Evergreen Line. It’s been a long wait. I’m grateful that the funding partners have reached an agreement, and I’m hopeful that all remaining approvals can be given without any further delay” said Tri-Cities Chamber Board President Richard Rainey.

“This is a positive step in the process of finally getting the Evergreen Line started, more importantly the decision to support a more comprehensive suite of improvements provides for a host of other regional priorities that will provide much needed transportation improvements across Metro Vancouver and as such will be of benefit to the entire region The economic development spurred on by this decision will be instrumental in sustaining the growth in the area” commented Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Michael Hind. For further information, contact:
