This inaugural Chamber event, The Chair’s Dinner 2009 was held on November 25th at Westwood Plateau Golf & Country Club. It offered up a wide array of Chamber business, including acknowledgement of the 2009 Board of Directors, welcoming of the 2010 Board of Directors, passing of the gavel, speeches from outgoing Chair Barrie Seaton and incoming 2010 Chair Stephanie Booth, swearing in of the new 2010 Board, and a speech from David Bodner, Chair of the BC Chamber of Commerce.
Emceed by Gene Vickers, highlights of the evening also included the presentation of the award of the 2009 Chamber Member of the Year to John Wolff, the presentation of two Douglas College Scholarships and recognition of the Board of Governors.
The Keynote speaker, 2009 RBC Olympian Andrea Holmes gave a wonderfully inspiring and emotional speech to the gathering, later providing an opportunity to chat with her, and pose with her in a photo with the Olympic torch.
