Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce : Strong Business Strong Communities

Chair’s Report

from Barrie Seaton
Chamber Chair

barrie-seatonI was privileged to attend the opening of the new Pitt River Bridge on Sunday October 25, 2009. This $180 million project will dramatically improve the movement of goods and services from the Tri-Cities area across the Golden Ears Bridge to points east of the Lower Mainland. It will also remove a time and energy-wasting traffic bottleneck that has frustrated drivers and motorists for many years. Anybody who has attempted to navigate the old Pitt River Bridge traveling against rush hour traffic will no doubt be extremely thankful for this new piece of traffic infrastructure.

During his opening remarks, Premier Campbell made a special effort to highlight the fact that the Pitt River Bridge was built to accommodate a rapid transit line to Pitt Meadows and Maple Ridge once the Evergreen Line has been built to Coquitlam. These remarks once again demonstrate the provincial government’s dedication and commitment to building the Evergreen Line.

On another note, I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who attended the recent Business Excellence Awards Nomination Luncheon at the Boathouse Restaurant. Good Luck to each of the finalists and we look forward to seeing you all at the Business Excellence Awards Gala in January. Also thanks must go to all our sponsors of this event, who helped us make this lunch such a success.

In fact, as has been mentioned on many occasions, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all the sponsors and everyone who has consistently supported the Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce and our events throughout this past year. Without you, we would not be able to put on these events.

THANK YOU, and we look forward to seeing you at the Annual General Meeting, Chair’s Dinner, Christmas Luncheon, Networking AM, New Members’ Orientation and Business Excellence Awards Gala.
